Helius is based in Brighton, UK, and was founded by Julie Gorman and Rich Cutler.
Julie Gorman was always fascinated by science and literature. After graduating with a BSc(Hons) degree in chemistry, she gained certificates in Teaching English as a Foreign Language and English for Special Purposes. Her first job in publishing was as a journals production editor for Elsevier. She later joined Harcourt, again as a journals editor.
Rich Cutler has had a life-long interest in the sciences and the visual arts, and has a BSc(Hons) degree in chemistry and an MA (Distinction) in fine-art photography. He is also drawn to language, and helped to write the Bloomsbury English Dictionary and the Collins English Dictionary. He started his publishing career as a journals editor at Pergamon Press, leaving to become a books editor at Harcourt. He is an Advanced Professional Member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP) – and holds its highest qualification of Registered Copyeditor.
